Claire Jackson

Claire is Professor in General Practice and Primary Health Care and Head of Discipline, University of Queensland, a part time GP in Brisbane, Queensland, and a member of the IBA Health Board. Her previous appointments include: Chair of the RACGP Queensland Faculty and RACGP Council; member of the Brisbane Inner South Division of General Practice and South East Alliance of General Practice Boards in 1999–2007; member of the Management Committee of the Brisbane South Centre for Health Service Integration; and member of Queensland's General Practice Advisory Council.

She has been active in general practice under- and post-graduate education and research for several years, and extensively involved in health services research and reform since the early 90s. Last year Claire was appointed to the 12 member National Primary Care Strategy Expert Reference Group and provided a commissioned paper for the National Health and Hospital Reform Commission on new models in primary care. As Director of the University of Queensland Field Support Service, she was involved in the development of Australian Divisions of General Practice in the mid 90s. Her current primary area of research interest is in improved health system integration, a topic on which she has published and presented internationally. With Inge de Jong, Claire co-authored Achieving effective health care integration – the essential guide in 2000.

Claire has also been involved in numerous research, educational and policy development projects at state and national levels.
