Thursday 1 October

Welcome reception 5.30 pm – 7.30 pm Government House

Celebrate the opening of GP’09 and the achievements of your colleagues at this year’s welcome reception. It offers you a great opportunity to meet old friends and new, over drinks and canapes.


Tickets to the welcome reception are included in the full delegate registration. Additional tickets can be purchased for $65 per adult.

Friday 2 October

National Rural Faculty and Registrars dinner 7.00 pm – 10.30 pm Burswood on Swan

The NRF and the General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) would like to invite our rural members, registrars, college friends and family to our annual rural and registrars dinner to be held at the Burswood on Swan. This venue is perfectly placed on the banks of the Swan River, providing you with a breathtaking panoramic view of Perth. Just a short stroll from the GP'09 conference venue, Burswood on Swan is a member of the award winning Spices Group. Come along – it’s a great opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and to meet new friends during a relaxed and informal evening in a fantastic location.

Tickets are $110 per adult, $90 per student/registrar and $25 per child

Saturday 3 October

Masterclass: Capturing your special moments 9.30 am – 12.30 pm

Take a break from visiting some of Perth’s attractive sites and learn how to capture all your families special moments with master photographer Russell Barton. This hands-on interactive class provides you with a great opportunity to gain a greater understanding of photography in an intimate class setting.

Cost $120 per person.


Minimum and maximum numbers apply for this class.


GP of the Year dinner 7.00 pm – late

The GP of the Year dinner is always a night to be remembered and this year will be no exception. In marquee on the banks of the Swan River, the prestigious GP of the Year awards will be presented, and then there will be plenty of time to catch up with your friends and to dance the night away.


Tickets are $130 per adult and $55 per child.

Perth at your leisure
During the conference there will be opportunities to enjoy some leisure time. You may like to consider some of the following activities:

  • enjoy an express train trip to Mandurah for lunch on the foreshore and visit to art centre
  • walk around Kings Park and enjoy the views
  • an 'art gallery crawl' (with self guide map) on the City Clipper
  • train trip to Guildford and enjoy a walking tour (with self guide map) of this historic village at your leisure
  • cruise the Swan River to Fremantle
  • visit the Perth Mint
  • take the train to Fremantle for a history tour on the Fremantle Clipper
  • take the ferry to South Perth for a day at the Perth Zoo with its renowned nocturnal house
  • book a day trip to Rottnest Island from Perth Old Port (Barrack St Jetty).

Photographic competition

Are you a GP, registrar, medical student, practice manager or practice staff? Do you have an interest in photography? If so, this is an ideal opportunity to showcase your talents.

We are excited to announce that at this year’s GP’09 - The Conference for General Practice 2009 in Perth from 1-4 October, there will be a photo competition encouraging you to share your photos reflecting the ‘seasons’.

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners invites conference delegates, members and members’ direct families, medical students, practice staff and practice managers to participate in the RACGP 2009 Photo Competition.

The theme of the competition is ‘Seasons: Summer, Autumn, Winter & Spring’

Entry to this competition is free and entrants are invited to submit an entry that focuses on the environment in which you find yourself. The only limit are your imagination and interpretation of our theme and categories.
